Portable devices for improving work safety in raise mine workings
Portable pneumatic barrier devices are designed to improve the safety of repair and installation work in raise mine workings. Depending on their dimensions, pneumatic barrier devices are made in four types, each adapted to specific operating conditions and safety requirements.
The barrier is a three-dimensional pneumatic structure consisting of a two-section chamber made of rubberised fabric and covered with a protective casing shaped to the chamber.
The upper part of the barrier is a truncated cone and performs a protective, shock-absorbing function. The lower part performs a bracing, load-bearing function and is shaped as a cylinder ending in a hemisphere.
The upper parts of the chamber and the casing carry load-bearing belts with rings, to which the rigging that connects the barrier to the winch cable is attached with carabiners.
The barrier has valves in its upper and lower parts for filling with air. To prevent kinking of the air hoses, the upper valve is fitted with an angled nipple.
